Football Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short Despite Shamar Myles' Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

Commerce was the 24-14 winner over Luella when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers took a 27-8 bruising from the Lions on Friday. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Even if they lost, Commerce's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Shamar Myles was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Myles is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least eight every time he's taken the field this season.

Luella had a senior duo take command as Markel Aguirre rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries and Dayshon Furlow rushed for 154 yards and one score while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.

Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Luella, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Commerce will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Luella, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Starr's Mill at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
