Basketball Game Preview: Palma Chieftains vs. Priory Panthers

The Palma Chieftains will face off against the Priory Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Palma's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.

Palma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Summit Shasta by a score of 79-71. The Chieftains' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Priory had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-45 win over the Hawks. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Hawks are ranked 415th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palma better keep an eye on Balazs Nyikos. He was instrumental in Priory's win, putting up 19 points. Charlie Conn was another key player, posting ten points.

Palma is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. Priory's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6.
