Wilcox County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Wheeler County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Patriots will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Wilcox County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They breezed past Dooly County to the tune of 41-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Melvin McAdoo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August. Billy Evans was another key rusher, rushing for 63 yards and one score on only seven carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Wilcox County proved: they limited Dooly County to a paltry 1.4 yards per carry. The Patriots didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.
Wilcox County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Jacobia Bolden led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Meanwhile, Wheeler County hadn't done well against Telfair County recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs blew past the Trojans 35-7. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Wilcox County better keep an eye on Alvin Ricks. He was instrumental in Wheeler County's win, rushing for 206 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 45 receiving yards. Ricks' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Wheeler County's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Wilcox County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: McAdoo and Ricks. McAdoo just won't slow down this season and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 80.8 rushing yards per game. Ricks has been a dominant force too and has run in 16 touchdowns while averaging 144.5 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Wilcox County against Wheeler County when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 28-0 win. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
