Softball Recap: West Blocton Triumphs

West Blocton gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Montgomery Catholic Knights by a score of 5-1.

Ralyn Irvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West Blocton got a big performance out of Cara Rudd, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Shadwick, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

West Blocton's victory bumped their record up to 19-15-2. As for Montgomery Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-18.

As of now, neither West Blocton nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
