Baseball Recap: Lumberton Comes Up Short

Lumberton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sacred Heart on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 18-8 to the Crusaders. That makes it the first time this season the Panthers have let down their home crowd.

Lumberton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Morrison, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another was Johnny Crawford, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Lumberton's loss dropped their record down to 11-4-1. As for Sacred Heart, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.

While Lumberton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
