Football Recap: East Providence Piles Up the Points Against Mt. Pleasant

East Providence's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They breezed past the Mt. Pleasant Kilties to the tune of 48-8. With the Townies ahead 28-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

East Providence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Duarte, who rushed for 62 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 17 yards and one touchdown. The Townies also got a significant boost from Isaac Rodriguez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

The victory got East Providence back to even at 2-2. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. East Providence will take on rival Coventry at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant is set to face off against their familiar foe Middletown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
