Baseball Recap: Oscoda Comes Up Short

Oscoda managed to slip by Heston Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Owls came up short against the Patriots on Monday, falling 18-8. The Owls' loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Tyler Kretchman and Zayne Altz stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kretchman went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Altz went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Altz's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Crue Wiesenstien, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Oscoda's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Heston Academy, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Coming up, Oscoda will face off against Alcona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.92 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Heston Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Whittemore-Prescott at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
