Baseball Game Preview: Ellsworth Lancers vs. Traverse City Christian Sabres

The Ellsworth Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Traverse City Christian Sabres at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellsworth will be strutting in after a victory while Traverse City Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Ellsworth will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Buckley, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Lancers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bears a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Skyler Seeney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ellsworth is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Seeney was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Seeney wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Karson Clarke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Roman Windish also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Traverse City Christian lost 13-2 to Harbor Light Christian on Tuesday. The Sabres have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isaiah Willis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Traverse City Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Ellsworth, their record is now 4-9.
