Basketball Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short

Melrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 65-58 to the Hillcrest Vikings. The Golden Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jerrell Miller led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Miller is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Ja?Coby Lewis was another key player, as he made all 6 shots he took racking up 16 points and five assists.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hillcrest, they moved to 1-3 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Melrose didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-64 defeat against Fairley on the 2nd. As for Hillcrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-45 victory against Hamilton on the 5th.
