Basketball Game Preview: Eads Eagles vs. Cheyenne Wells Tigers

Eads is 1-9 against Cheyenne Wells since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eads Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Cheyenne Wells Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Eads didn't have too much trouble with South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] as they won 55-41. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells entered their tilt with Wiley on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 31-21. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Panthers are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eads better keep an eye on Corey Hill. He was instrumental in Cheyenne Wells' win, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 44 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Scheler, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Cheyenne Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Cheyenne Wells' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points over those games. As for Eads, their record now sits at 7-10.

Eads came up short against Cheyenne Wells when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 46-40. Can Eads avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
