The Thatcher Eagles will face off against the Tanque Verde Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Tanque Verde took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Thatcher, who comes in off a win.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Thatcher and Safford had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles walked away with a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since April 3, 2019.

Hudson Lopeman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Riney, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Tanque Verde fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Cholla on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-11 to the Chargers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tanque Verde also got a good showing from Nathan Hallums, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hallums has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Rocco Haggard and Landon Walker stepped up to the plate in a big way. Haggard got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Walker fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Haggard has been hot, having posted three or more RBI the last seven times he's played. Braden Guest was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Tanque Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7-1. As for Thatcher, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Thatcher couldn't quite get it done against Tanque Verde when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 12-7. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
