Soccer Game Preview: Amherst County vs. Heritage

The Amherst County Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Amherst County fell victim to Glass and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Hilltoppers, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Amherst County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Glass are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Liberty Christian.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Amherst County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.

Amherst County took their win against Heritage when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
