Volleyball Recap: Sasha Slozina and Emmerson Deluna Secure Win for Pleasant Valley

If Pocono Mountain East wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Pleasant Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Kira Hnat. The Bears walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals on Monday thanks in part to Hnat, who had 11 digs, four aces, and two blocks. She has been hot recently, having also posted 14 or more assists the last three times she's played.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19.

Leading Pleasant Valley to victory were Emmerson DeLuna and Sasha Slozina. DeLuna had 18 digs, while Slozina had 19 digs, six kills, two aces, and one block. That's the most digs DeLuna has posted since back in August.

They weren't the only good servers: Pleasant Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.

Pleasant Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11-3. As for Pocono Mountain East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6-1.
