Baseball Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Osceola Warriors
The Northeast Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Northeast came up short against DePaul College Prep on Thursday, falling 16-6.
Connor Mook was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Luke Guzman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
IMG Academy Navy typically has all the answers at home, but last Friday Osceola proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Ascenders. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Osceola also got a great performance from Cooper Walker as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Walker has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Osceola let Richard Stegbauer and Kaden DeLeeuw run wild. Stegbauer went 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while DeLeeuw scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. DeLeeuw also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Wing, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Osceola's record now sits at 9-6. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
