Basketball Game Preview: Stansbury Stallions vs. Cottonwood Colts

Stansbury is 1-7 against Cottonwood since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Stansbury Stallions will host the Cottonwood Colts at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Cottonwood heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Stansbury took over last week. Stansbury managed a 53-49 win over Jordan on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stallions.

Meanwhile, Cottonwood didn't have too much trouble with Hillcrest on Thursday as they won 68-49. The Colts pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.

Stansbury better focus on containing Luka Cecez and Luke Park as the pair were huge in Cottonwood's win. Cecez dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards, while Park went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and eight assists. The dominant performance gave Cecez a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of John Rosevear, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Cottonwood pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Stansbury, their win bumped their record up to 4-12.

Stansbury suffered a grim 88-62 defeat to Cottonwood when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rosevear, who went 10 of 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 40 points and five rebounds.
