Basketball Recap: Tamaqua's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Tamaqua can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 69-56 win over the Pine Grove Cardinals. This was a revenge game for the Blue Raiders: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in December of 2024, they had to take a 42-26 defeat.

Tamaqua's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Mateyak, who posted 19 points. Mateyak's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Kane, who earned 16 points.

Tamaqua's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Pine Grove, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

When Tamaqua and Pine Grove next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Tamaqua will take on Mahanoy Area and their 17-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Pine Grove will try to stop Pottsville's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
