Softball Recap: Huntington Park Takes a Loss

Huntington Park extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Legacy Tigers, falling 11-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

As for Legacy, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Legacy's part, Katelen Pedroza made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Pedroza posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Legacy got a massive performance out of Yesenia Villegas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Villegas has posted since back in March. Stephanie Salas was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

While Huntington Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
