Basketball Recap: Wayne Beats Milford for Their Second Straight Win

If Milford wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Wayne, they should've done a better job of containing AJ VanDyke. The Badgers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 68-44 victory on Tuesday with plenty of help from VanDyke, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 36 points and 13 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Wayne's points.

Despite the loss, Milford still got an impressive performance from Acacia Dalton, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Dalton is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jaidyn McMullin was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine rebounds and six assists.

The win made it two in a row for Wayne and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Milford, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Wayne has already played their next game, a 59-49 win against Piute on the 8th. As for Milford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-30 victory against Water Canyon on the 8th.
