League recap: Thurston paces 6A Southwest with two wins over past week

6A Southwest league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Thurston, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. The Colts beat Newberg 7-4.

Alex Fisher was the best pitcher in 6A Southwest this week, leading Grant. He struck out four batters this week.

The Generals boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Grant's Cameron Kokes led the league in strikeouts this week with five. With 21 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fourth in the league.



Cordell Harris's .571 batting average (4-for-7) for the Generals was the best in the league this week. For the season, he's hitting .366, good for 11th in the league. Harris has accumulated 30 base knocks this year so far.
