Sweetwater put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Greenback Cherokees get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sadie Scott made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Lillian Woodruff and Baylee Bohrer did most of the damage at the plate: Woodruff scored two runs and stole two bases, while Bohrer scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Woodruff a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Baylog, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Sweetwater hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenback struck out ten times.
Sweetwater's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. As for Greenback, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sweetwater will challenge Roane County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenback, they will square off against Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Cherokees' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
