Harbor Creek has gone 8-1 against Girard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Huskies will venture away from home to take on the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Harbor Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
On Friday, Harbor Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Slippery Rock, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win.
Harbor Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Powers, who rushed for 53 yards and one TD, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one score. Powers didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble, made two total tackles, and defended one pass. Gavin Zillman was another key player, rushing for 65 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Harbor Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Girard made easy work of Warren on Friday and carried off a 42-21 victory. With the Yellowjackets ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Harbor Creek better keep an eye on Aidan Arnold. He was instrumental in Girard's win, rushing for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. Arnold also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception. Ryan St. Julien helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Girard's record now sits at 5-1. As for Harbor Creek, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Harbor Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 226 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Girard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 226 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Harbor Creek strolled past Girard when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
