Los Lunas is 8-1 against Rio Grande since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Lunas lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Atrisco Heritage Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Jaguars on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on five straight.

Brooke Baca spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaslene Duran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Haidyn Garley, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Rio Grande got the win against East Mountain on Wednesday by a conclusive 24-4. That looming 24-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Ravens yet this season.
Alyssa Maes was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ceanna Sanchez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Rio Grande always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .912. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Los Lunas' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Rio Grande, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.
Rio Grande's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Los Lunas has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Rio Grande, though, as they've been averaging 12.2 hits. Given Los Lunas' sizable advantage in that area, the Ravens will need to find a way to close that gap.
Los Lunas took their victory against Rio Grande in their previous matchup on April 8th by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
