Basketball Recap: Herriman Falls Despite Big Games from Stone Tia and Carlo Mulford

If Herriman was riding high fresh off their 79-30 takedown of Hunter last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bountiful Redhawks on Wednesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Carlo Mulford and Stone Tia certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Mulford posted 23 points, while Tia put up 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Arnell, who had six points and six boards.

Bountiful's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Hewlett, who earned 13 points and five assists. That's the most points Hewlett has posted since back in November of 2024. Sake Willis was another key player, shooting 63% from the field en route to 13 points.

Herriman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Bountiful, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Herriman has already played their next game, a 72-42 victory against Foothill on the 4th. As for Bountiful, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-45 win against Timpanogos on the 5th.
