Volleyball Recap: Sky Russell Key Part of Team Effort in Pirates Win

The Riverside-Durham Pirates made easy work of the Carrboro Jaguars on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Riverside-Durham was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-12, 25-10.

Riverside-Durham got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sky Russell out in front who had seven digs and four aces. Russell has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Feller, who had nine assists and four aces.

Russell wasn't the only good server: Riverside-Durham was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matchups.

Riverside-Durham's record is now 7-3. As for Carrboro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
