The Oakridge Eagles will face off against the Whitehall Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Oakridge has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Oakridge might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to Montague, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Landon Southard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Oakridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Dutton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Whitehall entered their tilt with Mason County Central on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Spartans 11-4.
Whitehall got a massive performance out of Evan Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Thomas a new career-high. Nate Betz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Whitehall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Whitehall's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Oakridge, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Oakridge skirted past Whitehall 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
