Softball Recap: Morgantown Falls Short Against Ranked University

Morgantown faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mohigans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-5 loss back in April.

MADISON WISMAN spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, ANNE ROBINSON was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

With the loss, Morgantown broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-10. As for University, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 22-5-1 record this season.

While Morgantown had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
