Baseball Recap: Shawnee Comes Up Short

Shawnee came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-4 to the London Red Raiders. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Joey Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Blake Bowen also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Shawnee's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for London, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawnee will face off against Graham Local at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for London, they will square off against Grandview Heights at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Red Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
