Volleyball Recap: Mesa Verde Comes Up Short at Home Against Encina

Mesa Verde unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Encina Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

While Mesa Verde ultimately came up short, they really made Encina work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-22.

Encina can attribute much of their success to Diana Khalvati, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Encina has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Mesa Verde will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on San Juan at 6:00 p.m. on September 6. As for Encina, they will face off against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
