Basketball Recap: Sheets Memorial Christian Takes a Loss

Sheets Memorial Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Gospel Light Christian and fell 53-11. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 618th, while Gospel Light Christian are ranked 223rd).

Sheets Memorial Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Taylor McNeill, who posted four points along with 11 rebounds and four steals, and Kristin Haut, who earned no points and seven boards. That's the most steals McNeill has posted since back in December of 2024.

Gospel Light Christian was led to victory by Brooklyn Miller and Noelle Nelson. Miller went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points and five steals, while Nelson went 6-for-11 on her way to 15 points. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Hannah Mills was another key player, putting up eight points.

Sheets Memorial Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Gospel Light Christian, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.

Sheets Memorial Christian has already played their next game, a 35-26 loss against Millers Creek Christian on the 18th. As for Gospel Light Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 37-31 defeat against Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy on the 17th.
