Soccer Game Preview: Goochland vs. Albemarle

The Goochland Bulldogs will head out to take on the Albemarle Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Goochland has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Goochland fell victim to Charlottesville and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 5-0 to the Black Knights. The defeat continues a trend for Goochland in their meetings with Charlottesville: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Albemarle kept a clean sheet against Fluvanna County on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Flying Flucos. Devin Kriebel had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Albemarle.

The victory made it two in a row for Albemarle and bumps their season record up to 4-1-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two games. As for Goochland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Goochland couldn't quite get it done against Albemarle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
