Football Recap: Amsterdam Piles Up the Points Against Schenectady

Amsterdam never let their opponents score on Friday. They claimed a resounding 34-0 win over the Schenectady Patriots. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Amsterdam's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luis Tirado, who threw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and two TDs. The Rams' leading receiver Rocco Natale Jr was Tirado's top target yet again, picking up 142 receiving yards and two scores.

Amsterdam's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. George Fisher refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Schenectady's side was Fisher, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The victory got Amsterdam back to even at 1-1. As for Schenectady, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Looking ahead, Amsterdam will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ballston Spa at 7:00 p.m. As for Schenectady, they will head out on the road to take on Albany at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. This will be the Patriots' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
