Softball Recap: Dover Takes Down Ranked Steubenville

Dover faced Steubenville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Crimson Tornadoes had just enough and edged out the Big Red 4-2. The Crimson Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Big Red recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jenna Molk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dover let Olivia McCue and Alli Hupp run wild. McCue went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hupp went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Dover pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Steubenville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4.

Dover will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Big Red: the pair will be back at it again later today.
