Baseball Recap: Palmetto Takes a Loss

Palmetto fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Inspiration Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Inspiration Academy Lions by a score of 5-3. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Keaton Love made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Blake Willis was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Palmetto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Palmetto's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Inspiration Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Coming up, Palmetto will welcome Lakewood Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto is facing Lakewood Ranch at the right time seeing as Lakewood Ranch is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Inspiration Academy, they will square off against Central Pointe Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
