Baseball Game Preview: Menominee Maroons vs. Kingsford Flivvers

Menominee is 0-4 against Kingsford since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Maroons will take on the Flivvers at 3:30 p.m. Menominee has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Menominee is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 12-7 to Gladstone.

Houghton typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Kingsford proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Gremlins with a sharp 11-3 win. The Flivvers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Garrett Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nolan Hendrickson was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Gavin Grondin was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Kingsford is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Menominee, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Menominee might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Kingsford in their previous matchup on May 2nd. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
