Softball Game Preview: Pocahontas County Warriors vs. Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders

The Pocahontas County Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Pocahontas County is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season back in March. They lost 16-1 to Pendleton County.

Meanwhile, Greater Beckley Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Summers County on Thursday, taking the game 10-6. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly four runs.

Allison Moten and Leah Adkins made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Moten didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Adkins pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Moten got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Adkins got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Peyton Heffernan was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wilkerson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Greater Beckley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
