Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mount Gryphons vs. Bunn Wildcats

Rocky Mount has gone 6-1 against Bunn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Both will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Rocky Mount's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

Rocky Mount is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Roanoke Rapids: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Rocky Mount blew Roanoke Rapids out of the water with a 73-39 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-21.

Anthony Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brelyn Moses, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Rocky Mount smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Bunn came up short against Southern Nash on Tuesday and fell 57-49.

Rocky Mount is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Bunn, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Rocky Mount didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Bunn in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory. Will Rocky Mount repeat their success, or does Bunn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
