Baseball Game Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. La Vernia Bears

The Boerne Greyhounds will head out to square off against the La Vernia Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boerne's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so La Vernia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Boerne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Alamo Heights with a sharp 20-3 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, La Vernia waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Buffaloes.

La Vernia's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caden Fox, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Fox has posted since back in March of 2024.

La Vernia's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Boerne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-4.

Everything went Boerne's way against La Vernia when the teams last played back in May of 2018, as Boerne made off with a 9-2 win. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
