Baseball Recap: Western Albemarle Comes Up Short

Western Albemarle and Charlottesville pushed the score to 13-7 the last time they played Charlottesville, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Warriors fell just short of the Black Knights by a score of 2-1. The Warriors' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Jack Parkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Western Albemarle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Miles, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Western Albemarle's record now sits at 10-7. As for Charlottesville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Meanwhile, Charlottesville will square off against rival Orange County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Black Knights' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Fighting Hornets have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
