Basketball Recap: Winn Starts Season with Loss at Home

Winn unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 89-65 to the Cornerstone Christian Warriors on Saturday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 24 in a row.

Defeat or not, Winn got some senior leadership from Damian Villarreal and Francisco Villarreal. Damian went 6-for-12 on his way to 17 points and five boards, while Francisco shot 63% from the field en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Jimenez, who posted ten points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winn will welcome Carrizo Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Tivy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
