Basketball Recap: Shaw Starts off Right with Win over Brookstone

Shaw gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They strolled past the Brookstone Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 59-56 loss the last time these two teams met.

Shaw was led to victory by George Willis and Alenzo Talley. Willis posted 18 points, while Talley had nine points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Willis a new career-high in boards (three). Another player making a difference was Zion Jones, who earned nine points and four steals.

Coming up, Shaw will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Russell County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brookstone, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kendrick at 7:30 p.m. on the 18th.
