Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Eau Claire's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

It's playoff time, and Eau Claire had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Ninety Six Wildcats with a sharp 47-21 victory on Monday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Shamrocks had established a 23 point advantage.

When it comes to explaining why Ninety Six lost, don't look at Janiyah Squire. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. That was a full 52.4% of Ninety Six's points, marking the 18th time in a row Squire has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Eau Claire has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points over those games. Ninety Six's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Eau Claire didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-37 win against Blacksburg on the 20th. Ninety Six does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
