Baseball Recap: Fisher Catholic Takes a Loss

Fisher Catholic had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bishops this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 1st.

As for Bishop Rosecrans, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Bishop Rosecrans' part, Coen Grandstaff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. Grandstaff has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nick Bernath, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Kohen Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Fisher Catholic has already played their next game (against Miller), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bishops 3.8, the Rockets 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
