Softball Recap: East Central Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Central had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the San Benito Greyhounds as they made off with an 11-3 win. Considering the Hornets have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jenise Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marissa Delgado, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Morgan Glorisoso, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Benito, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12-1.

East Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Greyhounds: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
