Baseball Game Preview: Lakeside School Chiefs vs. Providence Christian Academy LIONS

The Lakeside School Chiefs will square off against the Providence Christian Academy LIONS at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside School will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Lakeside School is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Beech, who was ranked 20th in their home state at the time (Lakeside School was ranked 23rd). Lakeside School blew past Beech 10-2 on Thursday. Considering the Chiefs have won 20 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Trent Hayes was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Conner Britton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Jack Giles was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Providence Christian Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Briarcrest Christian 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the LIONS.

The win got Providence Christian Academy back to even at 5-5-1. As for Lakeside School, their victory bumped their record up to 32-4.
