Basketball Game Preview: Eustis Panthers vs. Bishop Moore Hornets

The Eustis Panthers will challenge the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Eustis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

Eustis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-41 victory over Tavares. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 337th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

John Miller went supernova for Eustis, going 12 for 15 en route to 28 points. Those 28 points gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cornelius Hines, who posted six points and seven boards.

Bishop Moore fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 45-41 W against Liberty.

Eustis better keep an eye on Connor Corris. He was instrumental in Bishop Moore's win, putting up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Rivera, who scored nine points.

Eustis is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points over those games. As for Bishop Moore, their victory bumped their record up to 7-20.

Eustis won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January of 2021, slipping by Bishop Moore 55-54. Will Eustis repeat their success, or does Bishop Moore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
