Football Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Madera South Stallions + Official Tickets

The McLane Highlanders will square off against the Madera South Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McLane knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Madera South likes a good challenge.

McLane is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Sanger West: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Highlanders blew the Hornets out of the water with a 49-14 final score. Fans of the Highlanders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McLane to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vernon Lacy, who threw for 357 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 30 yards. Those 357 passing yards gave Lacy a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Dimareea Banks, who gained 186 total yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Madera South's offense. They were beaten by Roosevelt 55-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 860th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 318th).

McLane pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.8 points on average over those games. As for Madera South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for McLane against Madera South in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-13 victory. In that game, the Highlanders amassed a halftime lead of 34-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
