Softball Recap: Newburgh Free Academy Comes Up Short

Newburgh Free Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 5-1 to the Middletown Middie Bears. The Goldbacks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Middie Bears earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

Ryan Keller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Newburgh Free Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Gravel, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Newburgh Free Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Middletown, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

While Newburgh Free Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
