Softball Recap: Coral Springs Charter Wins Going Away Against Calvary Christian Academy

With a playoff win on the line, Coral Springs Charter rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophia Bertorelli looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Coral Springs Charter got a massive performance out of Jazzy Chung, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Chung a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coral Springs Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Coral Springs Charter's record now sits at 20-3. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they moved to 12-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Coral Springs Charter will take on Cardinal Gibbons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 1.2, the Chiefs 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Calvary Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
