Basketball Recap: Mound City Comes Up Short

If Mound City was feeling good fresh off their 76-33 takedown of Northeast Nodaway last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mound City Panthers were beaten by the North Platte Panthers 84-46 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mound City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while North Platte is ranked 109th).

Mound City's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for North Platte, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mound City Panthers take on the DeKalb Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Mound City is facing DeKalb at the right time seeing as DeKalb is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for North Platte, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Joseph Christian at 8:00 p.m. on February 4th. North Platte has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
