Baseball Recap: Baker County Comes Up Short

If Baker County was feeling good fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Hilliard on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Baker County Wildcats took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandalwood Saints on Friday.

Baker County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blane Chauncey, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Chauncey a new career-high.

Baker County now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Sandalwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baker County will head out to square off against Bradford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandalwood, they are taking a road trip to challenge Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sandalwood's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Ponte Vedra's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
